Trust & privacy

How we protect what VisionGuard sees, what we do with your details, and the terms for using this site: the short version, with every point that matters.

Security

VisionGuard runs on a computer inside your own building, not in our cloud — here is what that means for where your data lives, who can reach it, and the few things that ever leave the site.

Where it's kept

Camera footage, face data and attendance are stored in local files at your site; search history is kept too, but only in server memory today, not a file. Nothing is copied elsewhere by default.

  • The console today uses a plain, non-HTTPS connection on-site; HTTPS is planned.

Signing in

Every account signs in with an email and a password of at least 12 characters, stored only as a one-way hash. A wrong password and a non-existent account get an identical response.

Sign-in is temporary — cancellable immediately, and it expires automatically after 12 hours.

Two roles, decided by the server

Every account is an administrator or IT, decided by the server on every request, never the browser. Administrators manage people, cameras, accounts and settings; IT accounts handle daily use only.

  • Anyone can sign up, but only as IT — an administrator account is created only by a command run on the machine itself, unreachable over the network.

Every search is written down

Searches, knife-alert decisions, camera and alert changes, and removals are all logged — who, what, when — and a search is logged before its result, even a blank one.

  • The log lives only in server memory today and clears on restart; a permanent version, where an entry is removed only with a typed reason, is being prepared.

Retention and removal

  • Clips are deleted after 30 days by default; a restricted-area camera keeps only its three most recent.
  • The record of what happened — when, which camera, who reviewed it — survives even after the video is deleted.
  • Removing a person (administrator only, logged first) deletes their face data and directory entry at once; past sightings remain but unreachable — full erasure is planned.

What leaves the site

Only two things leave your site: masked Ask questions, and fact-only email alerts.

  • Ask masks names and plates on-site before querying Gemini; an unrecognised word is sent as typed. Gemini's free tier, used today, lets Google use what's submitted and have a person review it — a paid plan turns that off.
  • Email alerts via Gmail carry facts only — what, where, when, confidence and who decided — never a name, face or picture.
  • Report a problem: support@vision-guard.org or call or WhatsApp +20 100 253 5081, Sunday to Thursday, 9:00–18:00.

Privacy

How VisionGuard handles personal data on this website and in the VisionGuard software once it is installed at a customer's site.

Who we are

VisionGuard makes the VisionGuard camera software and runs this website, from Egypt.

The website

This site has no accounts or database of its own, and we keep no record of your visit — though GitHub Pages, which hosts it, logs visitor IP addresses, and Google Fonts sees your IP when a page loads its typefaces. We set no cookies, use no browser storage, and run no analytics or advertising.

We collect only what you type into our two forms. Send us a message, to sales@vision-guard.org, takes your name, work email and company, your phone and message if you add them, and your chosen site type and camera count. Ask us a question, to support@vision-guard.org, takes your name, email, topic and question. We use this only to reply — never to sell it or send marketing.

  • Your message passes through FormSubmit, then ImprovMX, to our Google (Gmail) mailbox; GitHub hosts the site. Each keeps its own copy under its own privacy policy.
  • These providers are mostly based in the United States, and ImprovMX also uses European servers, so your details are processed outside Egypt; call us on +20 100 253 5081 instead if you would rather they were not.
  • We keep your message for 12 months after our last reply, then delete it — sooner if you ask.

The product

VisionGuard runs on a computer at the customer's own premises. The organisation using it decides what the cameras cover, who is enrolled and which features run, and controls that data under the law; we only supply the software and have no built-in way to see it or reach in remotely. If you are recorded at a site using VisionGuard, ask that organisation to see, correct or delete your data.

Only two features send anything outside an installation, both through Google accounts it sets up itself. Ask replaces enrolled names and registered plates with placeholders before sending your question to Google's Gemini — on the free tier, Google's terms let it use that text to improve its products and let staff read it. Email alerts, off until an administrator turns them on, go out through Gmail as plain text and never include a face, picture or recognised name; anonymous usage statistics also reach Google Analytics, and the console and app load fonts from Google.

  • Enrolled people are kept until an administrator removes them; attendance, tracking and people-counting records have no deletion schedule yet.
  • Knife-alert video is deleted after 30 days by default; the alert record itself is kept for good.
  • Vehicle photos are deleted after 30 days by default; pass and register records stay until an administrator deletes them.
  • Alert-delivery logs are deleted after 90 days by default.
  • Automatic deletion only runs while VisionGuard itself is running.

Your rights

Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020) gives you the right to see and copy your data, withdraw consent, correct or delete it, limit its use, be told of a breach affecting it, and object to its use where that conflicts with your rights and freedoms.

  • For data from this website, email support@vision-guard.org or call us — we reply within the time the law sets. For data at a VisionGuard installation, ask the organisation that runs it.
  • You can complain any time to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Center (www.pdpc.gov.eg, info@pdpc.gov.eg), without losing your right to go to court.

Children and face data

Our website and forms are meant for adults acting for an organisation; we do not knowingly collect data from children through them. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you.

Under Egyptian law, face data and any data about a child are sensitive personal data. Processing them needs a licence from the Personal Data Protection Center and, unless the law expressly allows otherwise, explicit written consent — a parent's or guardian's, for a child. An organisation using VisionGuard must arrange this itself before enrolling anyone; we do not collect consent on anyone's behalf.

Changes and the law

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date on it.

This policy is governed by Egyptian law, including Law No. 151 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations. Disputes go to the competent courts of Cairo, unless Egyptian law gives another court jurisdiction — this does not limit your right to complain to the Personal Data Protection Center. If we learn of a breach affecting personal data we hold, we will report it to the Center and tell the people affected, as the law requires. More on security: see Security.

Terms

The terms for using this site and its forms, what VisionGuard does and does not promise, and the law that applies.

Who we are, and this site

VisionGuard, based in Egypt, runs this site; using it means accepting these terms.

It's for information only, not an offer, a promise about any particular installation, or a price list, and pages can change or vanish without notice. Where anything elsewhere on this site differs from this page, this page is the accurate account.

Using the site fairly

You may read the site, link to it, and use its forms. You must not:

  • break into, disrupt or overload the site or its services
  • scrape it in bulk, or send requests fast enough to slow it down
  • use the forms for spam, advertising, harmful links, or unlawful, threatening or abusive content
  • send someone else's details without permission, or impersonate anyone
  • breach Egyptian law, or the law where you are

The forms and your messages

Home-page messages reach sales at sales@vision-guard.org; Help-centre questions reach support at support@vision-guard.org, via FormSubmit. If it can't confirm sending, the page keeps what you typed and shows our email and phone instead.

We use your message only to reply, unless law requires disclosure. We delete it 12 months after our last reply, or after it arrives if we never reply, sooner if you ask. Don't include sensitive details; the forms are for adults — anyone under 18 should have a parent or guardian write instead.

Our content, name, and outside services

The site's text, design and images are VisionGuard's or used with permission; its code is public on GitHub under GitHub's terms. You may read, print and link to pages, but not copy, change or republish them, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests you are us or that we endorse you, without written permission.

Outside services — GitHub Pages, Google Fonts, FormSubmit and our email providers — may process your data, including your IP address, outside Egypt; the Privacy policy names each one. WhatsApp, email and phone links leave the site for services we don't control.

What VisionGuard does, and its limits

VisionGuard is camera software run at the customer's site. It watches cameras for the features switched on — attendance by face, people counting, restricted zones, tracking, knife detection, lost bag, the vehicle gate — and keeps a record for most. It helps people decide; it takes no physical action and decides nothing itself. By itself it only sends enabled alert emails, and lets Ultralytics, its detection library, send usage stats — never pictures, names or records — to Google Analytics by default.

Decisions about someone's safety, job or legal standing should always be made by a person, using VisionGuard as one input, not the final word. The customer decides which cameras, features and people to use, and is responsible for lawful use — including camera notices and the licence and written consent Egyptian law requires for biometric and children's data; VisionGuard does not collect that consent for them. What it keeps and what leaves the site are in the Privacy policy.

  • Any detection can be wrong — treat every alert, count, name and plate as something a person must check.
  • Knife alerts appear at once, stay unconfirmed until reviewed or marked a false alarm (which stays in the history); guns aren't detected, and real-world accuracy is unmeasured.
  • People counting over-counts today — one person read as one to seven, about two and a half on average — and camera totals are summed with no de-duplication.
  • Face recognition can misname or miss someone; a name is its best match, not proof of identity, and its real-world accuracy, like plate reading, is unmeasured.
  • Ask can misread a question — check what it filled in before relying on it; with a Gemini key it sends the question to Google, with enrolled names and plates replaced by placeholders. Lost bag keeps no record and sends no alert.

Buying it, warranty, changes, law and contact

These terms cover this website only; buying, installing or using VisionGuard is agreed directly with each customer. The site is provided as is, in good faith, with no promise it's complete, error-free, always online or fit for a purpose; VisionGuard isn't liable for loss from using it, being unable to use it, or relying on it, except where Egyptian law won't allow that.

Terms may change; the version on this page when you use the site applies, Arabic governs over English, and an invalid part doesn't void the rest. They're governed by Egyptian law, disputes go to Cairo's courts unless Egyptian law says otherwise, and personal-data handling follows Law No. 151 of 2020 — you can always complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Center, www.pdpc.gov.eg.

Questions about these terms: support@vision-guard.org or phone/WhatsApp +20 100 253 5081, Sunday–Thursday, 9:00–18:00 Cairo time. For pricing or a demo: sales@vision-guard.org.
